No. 20 USC Lacrosse Leaves the Buckeyes Shell Shocked in the 18-10 Victory

Senior Ella Heaney posted seven points to best undefeated Ohio State
LOS ANGELES - No. 20 USC Lacrosse (1-1) prevailed in an offensive showcase as it took down Ohio State (3-1), 18-10, at McAlister Field on Feb. 19.

KEY PLAYERS
- Senior Ella Heaney led all scorers, totaling seven points with four goals and three assists. Her four goals came on four shots, leaving her shot percentage at a perfect 100%. Heaney also provided three groundballs and one caused turnover to the stat sheet.
- Six players for the Trojans came up with multiple points in the offensive onslaught. Including sophomore Maddie Dora, who joined the hat trick club with three goals in the first half.
- Defensively USC was led by a number of players as four players posted three groundballs: Heaney, redshirt sophomore Isabelle Vitale, sophomore Catherine Lord, and senior Danielle Carson. Four different Trojans also helped force multiple turnovers, as Dora, senior Sloane Murphy, senior Olivia Dooley and junior Claudia Shevitz led the charge with two.
- Junior goalie Kait Devir held down the netting for USC, as she allowed six goals and had six saves in three quarters of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Trojans dominated possession in the affair, as they held a 13-5 draw control advantage at halftime and ended with 19 compared to the Buckeyes 13. Shevitz and Lord provided the most support in that category with six, while graduate student Katie Ramsay claimed five.
- USC began the game with a fiery offensive charge, as they posted the first seven goals of the game. The Trojans struck early with a Heaney goal at 12:49 in the first, before following it with three goals in succession as the next three were scored in 1:38 beginning at 6:38 and ending at 5:00. To begin the second, USC picked it back up with another set of three as they scored with 13:03, and followed it up with two more goals at 10:57 and 10:01.
- The second half was much of the same thing, as the Women of Troy picked up two goals within the first three minutes of the whistle. USC would grab two more in the third quarter leading to the Trojans securing a ten-goal differential with 5:36 left in the third.
- The Women of Troy would replace starting goalie Devir, with backup Mia Fleming, and consquently multiple other starters as USC held a 14-6 advantage going into the fourth.

MATCH NOTES
- USC win against OSU brings them to 7-4 all-time in home openers and now has won five straight since 2019.
- The Trojans now hold a record of 7-2 against Big Ten opponents, and have a 2-0 record against the Buckeyes.
- Lindsey Munday added to her record against Amy Bokker coached teams, as she is now 8-6 against them. Bokker coached Stanford from 2009-19.
- Ella Heaney is now ranked ninth in Trojan history with 106 career points.
- Sophomore Mia Ferraro and redshirt freshman Callie Cirilli both earned their first career goals in the fourth quarter.
