The Women of Troy bring in four coveted prep volleyball athletes
LOS ANGELES – USC women's volleyball has signed four coveted prep athletes to National Letters of Intent to be part of its 2024 recruiting class, head coach Brad Keller announced on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
The Trojans' 2024 freshman class will include middle blocker Favor Anyanwu (Rowlett, Texas/Sachse HS), defender Paisley Douglas (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic HS), outside hitter Jadyn Livings (Allen, Texas/Prestonwood Christian Academy), and outside hitter Brooklyn Tealer (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville HS).
"I am so pleased with the group of athletes we are signing today," said Keller. "When we set out to put together the class of 2024, I knew we wanted high character, determined, and unshakably confident student-athletes and I truly believe that each of these four young women embody those traits. There are a lot of hopeful volleyball athletes across the country but when you land on a true fit for a program, it's undeniable. Beyond just volleyball, I am excited for this group to arrive on campus next year and to watch them grow as people, as leaders, and as student-athletes who all share a common goal."
A 6-2 middle blocker, Anyanwu was chosen as a member of the 2023 USAV Girls U19 National Team and helped Team USA capture gold medals at the FIVB World Championship. She played for Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and is a National Training Development Team Indoor Training Series athlete. Anyanwu was named to the all-tournament teams at both the USAV Girls Junior National Championship and the USAV All-Star Championship. With over 1,000 career kills to her name, Anyanwu is a Texas all-state, all-district, all-area, and all-league athlete and was chosen to the 2022 AVCA Phenom List. She was the 2020 District 9-6A Newcomer of the Year and earned Player of the Year recognition in 2022. Anyanwu is also a Texas 6A shot-put champion.
As a 5-6 defensive specialist and libero, Douglas played for VCNebraska and helped lead her Skutt Catholic High School squad to four consecutive (nine overall) Nebraska state championships. She was an AVCA High School All-America honorable mention selection and is an accomplished student-athlete with academic all-state and AP distinguished honors.
Livings—a 6-1 pin-hitter—played at Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and was on the 2023 AVCA Girls High School All-American Watch List and later was selected to the AVCA High School All-America first team. Livings earned Preseason MaxPreps All-America second-team notice and helped lead TAV to the 2023 USA All-Star U20 International Championship as the tournament MVP. A Texas all-state, all-district, all-area, and all-league player, Livings was also a 2022 AVCA Phenom List honoree and was named to the PrepVolleyball.com High School All-America second team. She was a member of the 2022 USAV U17/U18 NTDP Summer Training Series and was invited to the 2022 UnderArmour Camp.
A 6-0 pin-hitter, Tealer played for the Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club. Tealer was rated the No. 2 recruit in the state of Florida for the 2024 cycle. Tealer is an UnderArmour Next camp invitee and was named to the PrepVolleyball Triple Crown watch list. She helped lead her team to a district runner-up finish and helped her club win the Big South championship. Tealer also was a key piece to her team's first-place finish at the NEQ Qualifier and to second place in the Florida Fest tourney.
The 25th-ranked Trojans (16-8, 10-4 Pac-12) are tied for third in the league standings and head to the Pacific Northwest for matches at Washington (14-11, 5-9) on Friday (Nov. 10) and ninth-ranked Washington State (19-6, 9-5) on Sunday (Nov. 12). The Trojans and the Huskies will be shown on Pac-12 Insider while the USC-WSU match will be streamed on the WSU live stream platform.
