No. 4/16 USC Swimming Sets Four School Records At Texas Invitational

LOS ANGELES – No. 4 USC women's swimming continued to impress on Friday, Nov. 17, as the Women of Troy broke two school records at the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational.
Trojan freshman Minna Abraham had the world on watch on Friday evening, posting the second fastest time in the country this season and a school record-worthy time of 1:41.38. With the win, Abraham shattered Louise Hansson's previous USC record of 1:41.81, set in 2018.
For the third consecutive day, USC turned in stellar relay performances, with Vasilissa Buinaia, Anicka Delgado, Kaitlyn Dobler and Abraham teaming up to touch second in a school record-worthy time of 1:27.07. The previous record, 1:27.32, was set in 2019 at the NCAA Championships by Marta Ciesla, Tatum Wade, Jemma Schlicht and Laticia Transom.
I.M. specialist Justina Kozan led a trio of Trojans in the 400y individual medley, touching second in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:03.25. Claire Tuggle was fourth in 4:10.33, while Macky Hodges (4:18.07, 4:12.62 prelims) rounded out the field in eighth.
Trojan breaststroke specialist Dobler posted a season-best 56.99 to claim the 100y breast. Katherine Adams touched seventh in 1:01.24.
USC's Chris O'Grady claimed the men's 100y breaststroke in a season best 51.53, dropping under the 52 second mark for the first time this season.
Backstroke specialist Famous was third in the 100y back, posting a personal best 51.43.

THURSDAY SWIM RECAP:
Senior Ben Dillard and the Women of Troy's 400y medley A-relay each set school records on Thursday evening, highlighting USC's effort's during the second day of action at the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational.
Dillard, whose previous season best was a 1:47.73, dropped over four seconds to clock a 1:43.24 en route to a fourth-place finish. The prior school record was set by Trent Pellini in 2022 at the NCAA Championships (1:43.78).
USC's quartet of Caroline Famous, Kaitlyn Dobler, Anicka Delgado and Vasilissa Buinaia posted a 3:26.90 to finish second in the 400y medley relay. Dobler and Delgado are no strangers to having their name in the record book, having swam on the relay that previously held the record – Calypso Sheridan, Dobler, Delgado and Laticia Transom (2022, 3:27.86).
Freshman Krzysztof Chmielewski recorded a season best time in the 500y freestyle, touching second in 4:13.84. On the women's side, Justina Kozan (4:38.47), Claire Tuggle (4:43.10) and Macky Hodges (4:43.76) finished second, sixth and eighth, respectively.
USC's Vasilissa Buinaia (22.01) led a 1-2 Trojan finish in the splash and dash, touching just ahead of Anicka Delgado (22.05), who touched second. During the morning session, Buinaia turned in a season best 21.95, marking her first-time under 22 seconds this year.
Trojan Artem Selin championed the men's 50y free in a personal best 19.27.
Troy closed out the evening with a runner-up finish in the 400y medley relay as Vaggelis Makyrgiannis, Dillard, Chmielewski and Selin turned in a 3:06.61.
TROJAN DIVING INVITATIONAL
During the first day of competition at the Trojan Diving Invitational, USC's small but mighty squad prevailed, with all 10 Trojan divers advancing to the finals.
Sophomore Laurent Gosselin-Paradis led Troy on 3-meter, garnering 747.05 points to finish third overall. Shortly behind Paradis was junior Shangfei Wang who tallied 745.00 total points to place fourth. USC's Robert Gref (586.95), Wesley Ahart (525.00) and Tatsuya Machida (494.25) finished 9th-14th-16th, respectively.
On women's 1-meter, USC fifth-year Nike Agunbiade finished third, tallying 583.85 total points. Grace Lee was fifth (548.75), followed by Allison Ward (496.65) in ninth, Lily Castanon (479.80) in 13th and Farrah Volpintesta (464.50) in 14th.
