The Women of Troy improved to 8-0 at home behind a 23-kill performance from OH Skylar Fields

LOS ANGELES – The USC women's volleyball team (13-7, 7-3 Pac-12) went the distance for a five-set win (24-26, 25-23, 17-25, 25-17, 15-10) over Washington (13-8, 4-6) at Galen Center on Sunday, Oct. 22. With the victory, the Women of Troy go to 8-0 at home this season and extend the home win streak to 10 straight.

KEY PLAYERS

Sr. OH Skylar Fields led USC with 23 kills (5e, 54att) and hit .333 to go with 11 digs and five blocks (one solo). It was Fields' fifth double-double of the season (15th career) and was her 49th time in double-digit kills as a Trojan and the 28th time she has logged 20 or more kills in a match.
Jr. S Mia Tuaniga put up a season-high 50 assists and tied her career high with 17 digs for her eighth double-double of the season (23rd career). She also had two kills, two blocks (one solo), and a service ace.
So. MB Tyrah Ariail racked up a career-high eight blocks (two solo) and put up 12 kills (4e) on 23 swings to hit .348. She also had a career-high six digs, a service ace, and an assist.
Fr. OH London Wijay collected nine kills and had eight digs, two service aces, and an assist.
Gr. DS/LIB Ellie Snook posted 12 digs—her ninth time in double-digits—and added four assists and one ace.
So. DS/LIB Gala Trubint had eight digs and served two aces.
For the Huskies, Audra Wilmes led with 20 kills (.208) and added 11 digs and two service aces. Madi Endsley put up 16 kills (.317) with two digs and two blocks. Molly Wilson collected 49 assists with 14 digs and four blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Women of Troy hit .245 over Washington's .211 and had more kills (62-60), more blocks (13-8), more assists (61-57), and more digs (75-65). The Huskies had the slight edge in with eight service aces to the Trojans' seven.
The Trojans hit .297 in the first set to outpace the Huskies' .294 but dropped a 26-24 result that had 15 ties and eight lead changes. Wijay scored five of her kills in the opening frame and Tuaniga put up 13 assists to go with four digs.
Fields led the way in the second with five kills and racked up seven of her digs in the set. Tuaniga had seven digs herself and dished out 10 assists to help the Trojans hit .222 and get a 25-23 win to even the match.
UW scored on four aces and hit .448 in the third without an error on 29 swings and came away with a 25-17 win to earn a 2-1 lead. Fields had three kills while Wilmes had four to lead the Huskies.
Fields came up with seven more kills in the fourth and helped USC hit .265 in a 25-17 win that sent the match to a fifth set. Snook dug up five balls and Trubint had four digs to go with a service ace.
More of Fields helped lift the Trojans to a 15-10 win in the fifth set. She hit .417 with five kills on 12 swings and got in on two of the Trojans' three fifth-set blocks. Wijay passed seven balls and had three digs to go with a service ace.

UP NEXT

USC returns to the road to take on Colorado (Oct. 27) and Utah (Oct. 29) to conclude the month of October and open the back half of the Pac-12 schedule. Both matches will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks.

MATCH NOTES

USC improved to 44-33 all-time against Washington and stopped a five-match losing streak to the Huskies. The Trojans also go to 25-12 all-time at home against UW. In five-set matches with the Huskies, USC improved to 9-11 all-time.
The Trojans improved to 6-2 in eight five-set matches this season; 5-1 against Pac-12 opponents. USC goes to 152-105 in all-time five-set matches including a 62-39 record at home.
The Women of Troy remain undefeated at home and improved to 8-0 at Galen Center this fall. They won their 10th straight home contest dating back to Nov. 12, 2022, and are now 201-54 all-time at Galen Center.
USC defeated both Washington and Washington State at home for the first time since 2017.
