USC Men's Basketball Picked Second In Pac-12 Preseason Poll

Trojans' highest preseason conference ranking since also tabbed second for the 2017-18 season
USC's men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the conference in the 2023-24 Pac-12 preseason poll of league media, it was announced today (Oct. 11). The second-place ranking is USC's highest since also being selected second in the 2017-18 preseason poll.

USC received 264 points in the poll, including four first-place votes, second only to Arizona which was predicted to finish first with 303 points and 18 first place votes. The remainder of the predicted finish for the Pac-12 teams is as follows: 3rd - UCLA (249, 4 first-place votes), 4th - Oregon (228), 5th - Colorado (210), 6th - Arizona State (148), 7th - Utah (139), 8th - Stanford (131), 9th - Washington (108), 10th - Washington State (94), 11th - California (67) and 10th - Oregon State (42).
The Trojans went 22-11 during the 2022-23 season, including a 14-6 record in Pac-12 play which tied for second in the conference. USC also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. It was the Trojans' fourth consecutive 20-win season, a school record for back-to-back 20-win seasons. USC has won a combined 95 games the past four seasons, tied for the sixth-most among Power 6 conference teams.
USC returns leading scorer and 2022-23 All-Pac-12 guard Boogie Ellis, as well as 2022-23 All-Pac-12 Defensive Team members Kobe Johnson and Joshua Morgan. It addition, it has added the No. 4 ranked recruiting class in the country which includes the consensus No. 1 overall player, guard Isaiah Collier, and graduate transfer DJ Rodman.
Yesterday Ellis and Collier were named to the 2023-24 Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference First Team and Johnson was named to the Second Team. It marks the fifth consecutive season in which the Trojans have had at least one player named to the Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team
USC will open up its season playing Kansas State in a Hall of Fame Series game in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 6. That game will start at 7 p.m. and will be carried on TNT. USC will play its home opener on Nov. 9 vs. CSU Bakersfield at the Galen Center at 6 p.m. That game will air on the Pac-12 Network.
