USC's Boogie Ellis, Isaiah Collier Named Pac-12 Preseason First-Team, Kobe Johnson Second-Team

Trojans tied for most first-team and overall selections
USC guards Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier were named first-team and Kobe Johnson second-team Preseason All-Pac-12, it was announced by the conference today (Oct. 10). In a vote by media which covers the Pac-12, the Trojans' three selections for the first or second team are tied with Arizona for the most preseason All-Conference selections and the two first-team selections are tied with Colorado for the most first-team selections. Ellis and Johnson are traveling today, along with head coach Andy Enfield to Pac-12 Media Day which will be held at Park MGM on Wednesday.
The fifth-year star Ellis averaged a team-leading and the fourth-most points in the conference (17.7) last season and was named to the 2022-23 Pac-12 All-Conference first team. Ellis tied for the 2022-23 league lead with 83 three-pointers made and his 583 total points scored rank 10th on USC's all-time single-season list.
The freshman point guard Collier, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class, was named the 2022-23 Naismith Player of the Year, the MaxPreps Player of the Year and the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year. As a senior, Collier averaged 19.6 points, 6.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game for Wheeler High in Georgia. Collier was a 2022-23 McDonald's All-American and went on to become co-MVP at the McDonald's All-American Game, as he scored a game-high 25 points.
Johnson, a junior, had a break-through 2022-23 season, averaging 9.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. His 72 steals were second in the Pac-12 and tied for third on USC's all-time single-season steals list. Johnson was named to the 2022-23 Pac-12 All-Defensive Team.
Pac-12 Media Day can be followed tomorrow (October 11) across the Pac-12 Networks and at Pac-12.com beginning at 9 a.m. USC's session on the main stage at Pac-12 Media Day will be from 1:20-1:42 p.m..
USC will open up its season playing Kansas State in a Hall of Fame Series game right across the street in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena on Nov. 6. That game will start at 7 p.m. and will be carried on TNT. USC will play its home opener on Nov. 9 vs. CSU Bakersfield at the Galen Center at 6 p.m. That game will air on the Pac-12 Network.
The Trojans went 22-11 during the 2022-23 season, including a 14-6 record in Pac-12 play which tied for second in the conference. USC also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. It was the Trojans' fourth consecutive 20-win season, a school record for back-to-back 20-win seasons. USC has won a combined 95 games the past four seasons, tied for the sixth-most among Power 6 conference teams.
