USC Baseball Loses Late Against Washington, 8-6

LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team took a lead into the ninth, but Washington scored four runs in the top of the inning to pick up an 8-6 win in the series finale.
The Trojans fall to 24-25 overall and 8-19 in Pac-12 play, while Washington improves to 25-24 overall and 14-16 in conference action.
It was a back-and-forth contest for the most of the afternoon, with the Huskies taking a 3-1 lead into the fifth. Tyresse Turner hit a three-run homer in the inning to give the Trojans their first lead of the day at 4-3.
The advantage was short-lived however, as an RBI single by Washington in the top of the sixth tied the game up. USC would get two runs in the seventh, scoring on a D'Andre Smith singe and a wild pitch to go up 6-4.
Washington scored a run on an error in the ninth and then tied the game on a bases-loaded double-play ball. A.J. Guerrero provided the final heroics for the visitors, hitting a two-run shot to center.

USC heads to No. 19 UC Santa Barbara for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday and then closes the season at No. 8 Stanford with a three-game series starting on Thursday. Tuesday's game will be on ESPN+ and all three games at Stanford will be on the Pac-12 Network.
