USC Baseball Drops Series Opener to Washington, 2-1

LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team fell in a series-opening pitchers' duel against the Washington Huskies on Friday night, dropping a 2-1 decision at home.
The Trojans fall to 24-23 overall and 8-17 in Pac-12 play, while Washington improves to 23-24 overall and 12-16 in conference action.
USC fell behind early, but came back to tie the game in the fifth when Rhylan Thomas bunted home Johnny Olmstead to make it a 1-1 game. That was it for the Trojan offense, however, as USC left 10 men on in the game.
A.J. Guerrero hit a solo-homer in the eighth to put Washington up for good.
Jaden Agassi tossed 5.1 innings in the start, scattering eight hits and giving up one run. Carson Lambert took the loss after 2.2 relief innings and Kyle Wisch tossed a scoreless ninth.
Five Husky pitchers combined in the win, with starter Jack Engman throwing 5.1 innings. Stefan Raeth pitched the final two frames for the visitors and recorded the save.
