USC's Sean Wang Posts Two Wins to Lead USC in 182-118 loss to No. 11 Stanford

Senior Nikola Miljenic (100y free) and Trent Pellini (100y breast) posted individual event wins during their final home meet as Trojans.
Freshman Sean Wang swept the men's diving competition to lead the Trojans during their 182-118 loss to No. 11 Stanford during Saturday's Senior Day at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
With their loss the Trojans dropped to 4-2, 2-2 while Stanford improved to 6-0, 4-0.
USC opened the meet with a second place finish in the men's 200y medley relay as Troy's A-relay of Evangelos Makrygiannis, Trent Pellini, Alexei Sancov and Nikola Mijlenic clocked a 1:25.84. The Trojans finished just .17 behind the Cardinal's A relay.
In the 1000y free, distance free specialists Victor Johansson (9:08.18) and Daniel Matheson (9:11.65) each clocked season bests to finish second and third, respectively. Also swimming in the event was junior Ivan Puskovitch (9:31.88) who finished fifth.
2020 Olympian Vaggelis Makrygiannis captured the first individual win of the day for the Trojans, claiming the men's 100y back in 48.28. Jack Kirby (48.96) also had a strong performance to finish third in the event.
Graduate transfer Trent Pellini followed up Makrygiannis' win with a victory in the 100y breast, firing off a 53.08.
In the 200y fly, junior Harry Homans (1:47.74) and senior Jackson Odgers (1:48.14) put points on the board for the Trojans, finishing second and fourth.
After a block malfunction that ultimately resulted in a third place finish in the 50y free, senior Miljenic came back strong in the 100y freestyle to finish first in 43.94. Junior Max Saunders was close behind in 44.31 for second.
The Trojans continued to exhibit their depth with Makrygiannis (1:45.80) and Homans (1:46.96) finishing 2-3, respectively in the 200y back.
Alexei Sancov (47.54) turned in a strong performance in the 100y fly, finishing 2nd for the Trojans.
USC divers were also in action during the Stanford dual. Trojan Sean Wang won twice, taking first on 3-Meter with a final score of 348.45. He also claimed the men's 1-Meter competition, finishing the afternoon with 429.60 points. George Korovin was second on 1-Meter (384.23).
Next up, USC will travel to Utah on Saturday (Feb. 12) for their final dual meet of the season.
