No. 11 USC Men’s Swim Downs Utah 164.5-96.5 to Wrap Regular Season

Trojans Daniel Matheson, Harry Homans and Vaggelis Makrygiannis each posted a pair of individual wins to guide the USC men's swimming team to a 164.5-96.5 victory over Utah at the Ute Natatorium in Salt Lake City on Saturday (Feb. 12).
The USC men's team rebounds to 5-2 on the season in dual meet action. Troy posted a total of 12 event wins today, two coming from relays.
USC opened the meet with a victory in the 200y medley relay as Makrygiannis, Trent Pellini, Nikola Miljenic and Artem Selin posted a 1:26.50 for first.
Freshman Matheson won both distance free events, taking the 500 (4:30.01) and the 1000y free (9:16.81).
Olympian Vaggelis Makrygiannis emerged victorious in both backstroke events, claiming the 100 (47.58) before later returning to take the 200 in 1:45.55.
Junior Homans claimed both the 200y IM (1:49.56) and 200y fly, blasting a 1:46.42 for first. Shortly behind him in the butterfly was Jackson Odgers who finished second in 1:47.85.
Sophomore Ben Dillard claimed the 200y breast for Troy, posting a 1:56.48. Touching second was Chris O'Grady in 1:58.57, followed by Henry Blaul in third (2:02.77).
USC swept the 200y free as junior Max Saunders touched first (1:38.27) followed by Dom Margarino (1:38.88) and O'Grady (1:39.68).
The Trojans also swept the 100y breast as Pellini (52.99), Blaul (54.40) and Miljenic (54.88) finished 1-2-3, respectively.
Sprint free specialist Selin claimed the 50y free, posting a 20.25 for first.
During the final event of the session, USC's 400y free relay of Selin, Miljenic, Pellini and Saunders combined for a 2:57.20 to claim the event and further solidify the Trojan victory.

USC's dominant road win will certainly provide valuable momentum as the team turns its attention to the Pac-12 Championships, which begin on March 2 in Federal Way, Washington.
