USC Claims Two Individual Events to Close Out Women’s Pac-12 Swim and Dive Championships

Senior Isabelle Odgers and freshman Caroline Pennington each won individual conference titles to lead the Trojans on Saturday (Feb. 26) during the final night of the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash.
USC wrapped up the meet third overall with 1373.5 points, marking the 11th time in the last 13 years the Trojans have finished top three or better at the Pac-12 Championships. Stanford won the team title with 1671.5 points while Cal was second with 1400.5 points. Only 27 points separated second and third place.
Freshman Pennington got things going for the Trojans during finals, opening up the afternoon session with a win in the 1650y freestyle. She clocked a 15:48.69 to take first, pick up her first career conference crown and post an NCAA A cut. Joining Pennington in the finals was Marlene Kahler who touched sixth in 16:19.02.
USC's Aela Janvier raced in the bonus final of the 200y backstroke, taking the heat in 1:55.84. Appearing in the championship final was Jade Hannah who claimed eighth in 1:55.82.
Next up was the 100y freestyle where senior Laticia Transom touched second to earn the runner-up spot on the podium in 47.34. Trojan Hanna Henderson was fifth in 48.44, breaking 49 seconds for the first time in her career. Pac-12 50y free champion Anicka Delgado claimed the consolation final in 48.56.
Senior Odgers headlined a 1-2-3 Trojan sweep in the 200y breaststroke, picking up her first conference title with a time of 2:06.42 (NCAA A cut). Touching second was 100y breaststroke champion Kaitlyn Dobler in 2:06.65, followed by senior Calypso Sheridan in third (2:06.97). Junior Nicole Pavlopoulou touched sixth in the championship final, posting a 2:09.12.
The Women of Troy wrapped up the evening with a second-place finish in the 400y free relay as Transom, Delgado, Henderson and Dobler combined for a 3:11.82.
With today's wins, USC extends its streak of winning at least two Pac-12 individual titles for 14 consecutive years and in 21 of the past 22 seasons. They have also won at least one title in 28 of the past 29 seasons.
Next up, the Women of Troy will head to the NCAA Championships, March 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia.

At the Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships in Tucson, Ariz., it was All-American George Korovin that claimed the men's platform competition, wrapping up the day with 373.95 points. Korovin's win marked his first conference title and USC's first platform title since 2016.
