USC's Drew Peterson Named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

LOS ANGELES — USC guard Drew Peterson was named the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-13, it was announced by the Conference today (Feb. 14).

Peterson helped lead then No. 21 and now No. 17 USC to a pair of victories during the week over Pacific and then-No. 12 UCLA by averaging 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.5 blocks per game. The Libertyville, Ill. native also made 66.7 percent of his field goal attempts (14-for-21), including 66.7 percent from three-point range (4-for-6).

In the 74-68 win over Pacific on Feb. 8, Peterson scored eight of his 12 points after halftime to help the Trojans overcome a 13-point second-half deficit. He also matched a season best with eight assists and had a then career-best four blocks.

In the 67-64 win over UCLA on Feb. 12, with Trojan leading scorer Isaiah Mobley out for the second consecutive game, Peterson scored a career-high 27 points, including going 4-for-5 from three-point range. Peterson also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds against UCLA for his first double-double of the season and fourth of his career. Peterson also registered a new career best of five blocks against the Bruins. Peterson had nine blocks in the two games to take over the team lead with 25. Peterson entered the 2021-22 season with a career best of 12 blocks set last season.

It is the first career Pac-12 weekly honor for Peterson and the second by a Trojan this season (Goodwin, Dec. 20).
