The Women of Troy had four players in double-digit kills in a hard-fought five-set loss to the eighth-ranked Cardinal
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's volleyball team (18-8, 10-5 Pac-12) fell to eighth-ranked Stanford (19-4, 14-1) in five sets (23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-9) at Galen Center on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

- Fr. OH Jordan Wilson led the Trojan attack with career highs of 21 kills and 50 attacks (9e, .250) and had two blocks.Â
- So. setter Mia Tuaniga put up 48 assists and served four aces to go with two kills, seven digs, and a block. It was her fifth match this season with four or more aces (sixth of her career). Her 51 aces in 2022 rank eighth all-time in the Trojans' single-season record book.
- Sr. OPP Emilia Weske recorded 15 kills (4e, 24att) and hit .458 with two blocks and three digs.
- Jr. MB Lindsey Miller matched her season high with 10 kills and attacked a career-high 24 times to hit .333. She also led the Trojans with five blocks and had two digs.
- So. MB Katelyn Smith scored 10 kills and had two blocks, four digs, and a service ace.
- Fr. LIB Gala Trubint led the Trojans with 10 digs for her 23rd match in double digits.
- For the Cardinal, Kendall Kipp had 24 kills (5e, 46att) and hit .413 with six blocks and three service aces. Elia Rubin tallied 15 kills and five digs. Catie Baird had 12 kills. Kami Miner put up 52 assists with seven digs and had three kills.Â
- Both teams finished with 50 digs and eight blocks a side. The Trojans had a 63-60 edge in kills and a 60-58 advantage in assists. Stanford hit .331 to USC's .277 and had one more ace, 8-7.
- Six different Trojans had kills in the opening frame as USC hit .359 with 18 kills (4e, 39att). Kipp had five kills to lead Stanford, but the Trojans held off the Cardinal in the end to win, 25-23.Â
- Wilson put up six of her kills in the second and the Trojans out-hit the Cardinal, .242 to .208. Weske picked up five more kills and had a 9-for-9 hitting line through two sets as USC went in front, 2-0, with a 25-21 win in set two.
- The score was tied 14 times in the third and Wilson went off for nine kills on just 14 swings. USC served a pair of aces and finished with 17 kills to Stanford's 12, but the Cardinal benefited from five service errors by the Trojans to get a 25-22 win.
- Only three Cardinal players scored kills in the fourth, but six from Kipp, five from Rubin, and four from Baird proved to be enough for Stanford to send the match to a fifth set. Tuaniga had three aces in the frame and her serve put USC up, 22-20, late in the frame. The Trojans went in front once more at 23-22, but Stanford scored the last three points.
- Stanford led by as many as seven several times in the fifth and finished off the match with a 15-9 win despite a furious USC comeback. The Cardinal hit .471 in the fifth and had 10 kills to USC's four.Â
- The Trojans close out the four-match home stand on Saturday (Nov. 12) with a 1 p.m. PT meeting against California (7-17, 0-14 Pac-12). The match will be shown live on the Pac-12 Insider streaming platform.
- USC fell to 26-70-1 all-time against Stanford and lost its 11th straight match to the Cardinal. The Trojans go to 15-25 all-time in home matches with Stanford.
- The Women of Troy lost just their second match at Galen Center this season (12-2) and fell to 191-54 all-time in the arena.
- The Trojans go to 1-3 in five-set matches this season (145-102 all-time, 58-39 at home).
- Against the Cardinal, USC drops to 5-10 all-time in five-set contests (1-5 when played at home).
