USC Swim at the Trials: Full Recap
June 20, 2021 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
With a little over one month until the Opening Ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, a host of Trojans were vying for a chance to represent the United States as they competed at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials June 13-20 in Omaha, Nebraska.
A total of six USC swimmers – past and present – were in the pool over the eight days of racing, that wrap up this evening.
Two-time Olympian Haley Anderson ('13) swam in three events at the trials, highlighted by a bronze medal-worthy finish in the 800 LCM free, touching in 8:20.51. Anderson, who missed second by less than .15 in the 800, is already a member of Team USA for the Tokyo Olympics after finishing second in the 10k at the 2019 FINA World Championships in South Korea.
At her first Olympic Trials as a Trojan, two-time Pac-12 breastroke champion Kaitlyn Dobler advanced to the finals of the 100m breast, finishing fifth overall in a personal best, 1:06.29.
Rising senior Isabelle Odgers reached the semifinals of the women's 200m breast, where she finished 16thoverall in 2:29.59.
Trojan Amanda Weir, who briefly swam at USC in 2006 before transferring, raced in two events at the trials, finishing 34th in the 100 free (56.10) and 51st in the 50 free (26.07).
