USC Baseball Falls to No. 10 UCLA, 6-3, to Even Series

LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team couldn't find another late rally on Saturday night against No. 10 UCLA, falling 6-3 to the Bruins at home.
A day after scoring four runs in the ninth to take the opener, the Trojans fall to 10-8 overall and 4-1 in Pac-12 play with the loss. UCLA improves to 14-7, 3-2.
The Bruins struck first in the game, getting a two-run triple from Josh Hahn to take the early lead. The Trojans got one back when John Thomas cashed in a leadoff double from Rhylan Thomas in the bottom half of the inning.
The teams would trade runs in the fifth, putting UCLA up 3-2. The Bruins then added two more runs in the eighth to pad their lead. USC came back to score a run in the bottom of the eighth on a double-play, but the Bruins got that run back in the ninth on an RBI by Kevin Kendall to make it 6-3.
Chandler Champlain suffered the loss despite a solid 6.0 innings in which he gave up three runs on six hits. Both teams used five pitchers in the game, with Jake Saum picking up the win for the visitors.
