Incoming USC Freshman Evan Mobley Named Wootten National Player of the Year
April 01, 2020 | Men's Basketball, Features
The Wootten Award is given every year to the top player from the pool of McDonald's All-Americans, which Mobley was named on Jan. 23. It is one of seven annual major national player of the year awards.
Another day, another accomplishment.

Mobley, a 7-foot forward who signed his National Letter of Intent with the Trojans on Aug. 5, averaged 18.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in his senior season at Rancho Christian High School in Temecula.
A consensus top-3 overall prospect, Mobley repeated as California's Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive season on March 26. He was also named a Naismith First-Team All-American on March 10 and Naismith Player of the Year finalist on Feb. 21.
He won gold medals representing USA Basketball at the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup and the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup. He was named as a participant for the 2019 USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team October minicamp and participated in the 2019 USA Men's Junior National Team Next Generation minicamp at the NCAA Men's Final Four.
Mobley is expected to join his brother — current Trojan forward Isaiah Mobley — and his father — assistant coach Eric Mobley — for USC's 2020-21 campaign.
