Miljenic, Kirby Reach Pac-12 A-Finals to Highlight USC's Third Day of Championships

Trojans sit in sixth place heading into final day of Pac-12 Championships.
Junior Nikola Miljenic and freshman Jack Kirby made appearances in conference A-finals to highlight USC's third evening at the 2020 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships on Friday (March 6) in Federal Way, Wash.
USC finished the third night in sixth with 279.5 points. California is first (576) followed by Arizona State (414), Arizona (387), Stanford (385.5), Utah (296) and USC.
Miljenic, posted a season PR 46.61 to earn a repeat trip to the 100y fly A final, where he finished sixth in another PR 46.16.
Sophomore Ariel Spektor finished seventh in the B final of the 100y fly (48.02) after a season PR in the morning (47.81).
Freshman Kirby made his Pac-12 A final debut in the 100y back, posting a PR (46.79) in prelims that earned him a spot in the finals. The freshman later posted a 47.04 to claim the eighth-place spot in the heat.
In the 100y breast, senior Matt McDermott (55.17) posted a PR in prelims that earned him his first Pac-12 scoring swim. He returned to post a 54.93, finishing seventh with his second PR of the day.
Sophomore Alexei Sancov finished third in the 200y free consolation final in 1:34.51. He was ninth overall in prelims (1:34.70), only 0.10 seconds behind the eighth-place finisher. Freshman Dom Margarino, Max Saunders, and Trent Martinez posted PR's in prelims to earn spots in the bonus final. Margarino (1:36.45), Saunders (1:36.62) and Martinez (1:38.08) finished third, fifth and eighth respectively, in the bonus heat.
Freshman Ivan Puskovitch was USC's top finisher in the 400y IM, finishing 15th with a 3:55.66.
The Trojans closed the night with a fourth-place swim in the 200y medley relay as Kirby, McDermott, Miljenic and Saunders posted a 1:27.15 to end the session.
The meet concludes Saturday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.--
