12 Trojans Named to Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll

12 Trojans were recognized for their work in the classroom and were named to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday (Mar. 31).

This year, the Pac-12 eliminated the selection process that determined all-academic teams for each sport and chose to honor any student-athlete that qualified during the season which he/she competes. Any student athlete on his or her respective team roster with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution was eligible to receive all-academic honors.

Senior Henry Fusaro, who most recently won Pac-12 Scholar (Swim/Dive) Athlete of the Year was named to the honor roll, holding a 3.71 GPA as a Philosophy, Politics and Law major. Matthew McDermott earned Pac-12 academic honors for the third consecutive year, boasting a 3.91 GPA as an accounting major.

On the women's side, Catherine Sanchez (3.39 – accounting), Naomi Gowlett (3.30 – business administration) and Abby Miller (3.36 – communication) all earned Pac-12 academic honors for the third consecutive year. Senior Hanni Leach (3.60 – communication) was recognized for the second time in her career.

Other Trojans earning honors for the first time included men's swimmers Joao Ama (economics and mathematics) and Owen Kao (undecided). Isa Odgers (journalism), Jemma Schlicht (health and human sciences), Laticia Transom (psychology) and Makenna Turner (communication) round out Troy's selections as part of the honor roll.
