Billy Fauntleroy had a career-high 23 kills while hitting .500 to help the USC men's volleyball team snap a 5-match losing skid and get its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win by upsetting No. 12 Stanford on the road, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, on Thursday (Feb. 20) in Palo Alto.
USC improved to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in the MPSF. Stanford fell to 5-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Jaylen Jasper led Stanford with 20 kills (hitting .429) with 4 digs, Will Rottman added 11 kills and Justin Lui had 7 digs.
USC hit .389 in the match, while Stanford hit .391. The Trojans had 8 aces to the Cardinals' 2, but Stanford had more blocks (9.0 to 6.5).
USC trailed 16-12 in the first set before scoring 5 of the next 6 points to tie it at 17-17 and soon after the Trojans scored 3 straight points to go up 22-19, enough to hold off Stanford while serving 3 aces in the set. USC never led in the second set, quickly falling behind 11-5, and the Trojans were unable to overcome the deficit. Troy pulled out to early 6-3 and 9-5 leads in the third set and was able to hold off late-charging Stanford while hitting .419 and serving 3 more aces. In the fourth set, USC went on a 6-point run to turn a 10-7 deficit into a 13-10 lead that it never surrendered (the Trojans hit .636 in the set).
USC now visits undefeated No. 2 BYU on Saturday (Feb. 22), the Trojans' fourth straight MPSF road match.
