USC To Play At No. 18/No. 17 Colorado Thursday

Trojans embark on final road trip, finish with 3 at home
The USC Trojans (19-7, 8-5) will play at the No. 18/No. 17 Colorado Buffaloes (20-6, 9-4) at the CU Events Center on Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. PT. The game will air on ESPN2 with Dave Feldman and Adrian Branch calling the action. USC is 5-4 on the road this season and is on its final road trip of the season, also playing at Utah on Feb. 23. USC will closeout the regular season with home games against Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA. Â
BREAKING DOWN COLORADO -- The Colorado Buffaloes (20-6, 9-4) are coming off a 69-47 road win at Oregon State on Feb. 15 and have won four of their last five games. McKinley Wright (13.6 ppg), Tyler Bey (13.5 ppg) and D'Shawn Schwartz (10.8 ppg) are all averaging in double figures in scoring. Colorado is 12-2 at home this season. USC lost 78-57 vs. Colorado on Feb. 1 at the Galen Center. Colorado leads the all-time series 12-7 and has won three straight against USC. USC has won two of its last three games at Colorado.
USC OVERCOMES SLOW START TO DEFEAT WSU -- Daniel Utomi scored a season-best 23 points to lead USC to a 70-51 home win vs. Washington State on Feb. 15. The Cougars scored the first 8 points of the game, making a pair of 3-pointers and a jumper in the paint without a miss to force a USC timeout with at the 18:33 mark. USC quickly responded with a basket by Utomi in the paint, a jumper by Isaiah Mobley and a layup by Jonah Mathews to cut it an 8-6 deficit just over a minute later. USC tied it at 17-all on a 3-pointer by Elijah Weaver at the 9:34 mark of the first half and never trailed again. USC led 30-21 at halftime. Utomi also made a season-best 5 of 10 3-pointers and USC finished 9 of 18 from beyond the arc, including making 70 percent from long-range in the second half (7 of 10). USC made 45.2 percent of its shots overall, including 53.6 percent in the second half. USC held WSU to 28.6 percent shooting, including 14.3 percent from 3-point range. Ethan Anderson added 12 and Weaver 11, while Mobley scored 9 and grabbed 11 rebounds. USC outrebounded WSU 45-38, outscored them 34-20 in the paint and outscored them 23-12 on fastbreak points. USC ran its winning streak against WSU to eight games. For the second consecutive game Onyeka Okongwu (concussion) and Kyle Sturdivant (bereavement) did not play.
UTAH ON DECK -- The Utah Runnin' Utes (14-11, 5-8) is coming off an 80-62 loss at Oregon on Feb. 16. Utah has won its last four home games and is 10-1 at the Huntsman Center this season.  Utah is led in scoring and rebounding by Timmy Allen (17.6 ppg/72. rpg). USC defeated Utah 56-52 at the Galen Center on Jan. 30, but still trails in the all-time series, 20-24. Â
BOARD BROTHERS -- USC forwards Nick Rakocevic (8.7) and Onyeka Okongwu (8.9) are one of three pairs of teammates in Division I averaging 8.7 rebounds or more per game. The other schools with a tandem of rebounders averaging 8.7 rebounds or more per game are Eastern Washington and Saint Louis.
THE SURGING SENIOR -- Senior guard Jonah Mathews has averaged 14.4 points in the last 11 games (158 total). He scored in double figures in seven-straight games from Jan. 11-Feb. 1, the second-longest double-figure scoring streak of his career. Mathews has also made 40.6 percent of his three-point shots in that stretch (26-for-64) and 80.0 percent of his free throws (32-for-40). Mathews now has 1,308 points, 20th on USC's all-time scoring list and his 236 career three-pointers made is third on USC's all-time list behind Elijah Stewart (245) and Bennie Boatwright (243).
SPRING FORWARD -- The game on Feb. 27 vs. Arizona has been changed to a 7 p.m. start (from 6 p.m.) and will air on ESPN.
ENFIELD'S WINNING WAYS -- USC head coach Andy Enfield has led USC to 129 victories which ranks fifth on USC's all-time list, three behind Henry Bibby who led USC to 132 wins.  Sam Berry is the winningest coach in USC history at 260, followed by Forrest Twogood at 251 and Bob Boyd at 216. USC has won 106 games combined in the last five seasons, the winningest five-year stretch in school history.
OKONGWU NEAR THE TOP OF THE CLASS -- Through his first 23 career games, Okongwu is averaging 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game, while shooting 60.9 percent from the field. His 69 total blocks are tied with Taj Gibson (2007) for the most in a single season by a USC freshman. Among all freshmen nationally, he ranks first in total blocks (69), blocks per game (3.00) and field goal percentage (60.9), third in offensive rebounds per game (3.35), fifth in rebounds per game (8.9), tied for sixth in double-doubles (9) and ninth in points per game (16.4).  Â
THAT '70s SHOW -- USC defeated Washington State 70-51 on Feb. 15 to improve to 15-1 this season when holding the opposition to under 70 points scored. In fact, USC is 68-3 in its last 71 games when holding the opposition to 69 points or less and is 83-9 in such games during the Andy Enfield Era.
