The Women of Troy picked up their first 3-0 win of the season against the Bison
LOS ANGELES – No. 20 USC women's volleyball (4-3) collected a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-17, 26-24) of Howard (2-8) in the Trojan Invitational at Galen Center on Saturday, Sept. 14.

- So. setter Raquel Lázaro picked up her fourth double-double of the season (16th career) with 38 assists and 11 digs.
- Sr. MB Jasmine Gross scored 12 kills (1e, 19att) and hit .579 with five blocks.
- Sr. OH Khalia Lanier returned after missing four matches due to injury and finished with 13 kills (4e, 33att, .273) with eight digs, a block, and a service ace.
- Fr. OH Kalen Owes collected 13 kills (3e, 34att, .294) and had seven digs and two blocks.
- For the Bison, Jurnee Tipton had 10 kills and 12 digs for a double-double. Myca Mitchell led with 11 kills and had two blocks.
- The Trojans controlled the first set but were met with a late charge by the Bison who pulled within two points. Lanier scored her sixth kill of the opening set to finish off a 25-22 win.
- The teams went back and forth to begin the second frame, but the Trojans finished with a flurry for a .462 hitting percentage (13k, 1e, 26att) and an 88-percent sideout rate (16-of-18) for a 25-17 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The score was tied 13 times in a hard-fought third set, but the Trojans came away with the sweep with a 26-24 victory.
- The Women of Troy conclude the Trojan Invitational with a 7:30 p.m. PT match against Villanova (7-1) at Galen Center.
- USC and Howard met in volleyball for the first time.
- The Trojans collected their first 3-0 sweep of the season.
- The Women of Troy improved to 163-37 (.815) all-time at Galen Center.
