Trojans Power Past Ducks in Series Opener, 10-6

USC improves to 22-26-1 overall and 10-13-1 in Pac-12 play, while Oregon falls to 26-25 overall and 9-16 in conference action.
Clay Owens and Brady Shockey each had three hits and a homer in the game, and were two of five Trojans with multi-hit days. Owens had an RBI single in the first as USC got out to a 3-0 lead thanks to five two-out hits in the opening frame. Matthew Acosta got the first-inning two-out rally going with one of his three doubles on the day.
Owens and Shockey would both hit solo homers in the third to put the Trojans up 5-0 and then an RBI single by Shockey in the fifth made it a six-run game.
Oregon would get on the board with two runs in the seventh, but USC came back with three in the bottom half of the inning. Owens drove home a run with a single up the middle and Chase Bushor and Brandon Perez each had RBI singles. The Ducks would score four times in the ninth, but Carson Lambert came in and got the final out of the game on a fly ball to center.
Lunn tossed 6.2 innings, taking a shutout into the seventh before finally giving up a pair of runs. He struck out four batters and walked none.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Clay Owens went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. It was his third homer of the season.
- Brady Shockey was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and his second homer of the year.
- Chase Bushor had two hits and two RBI.
- Matthew Acosta had three doubles and three runs score.
- Connor Lunn tossed 6.2 innings, scattering eight hits and giving up just two runs. He struck out four and walked none. It was his second game this season with at least six inning pitched and no walks.
