New-look Trojans to get a jump on the 2019-20 season
The USC men's basketball program will take a 10-day, nine-night exhibition tour to Europe this summer from Aug. 6-16, it was announced by head coach Andy Enfield today (April 29). The foreign tour, which is allowed by the NCAA every four years, will take the Trojans to Barcelona, Spain, Cannes, France and Paris, France. The team will spend three nights in each destination and play one game in each city. The Trojans' European opponents will be named in the coming weeks.
Â
"We are excited to announce our 2019 Summer Foreign Tour to Spain and France," said Enfield. "Our team will play three exhibition games against European professional teams while traveling to three magnificent locations. Our student-athletes and staff will have an amazing opportunity to enjoy a unique educational and cultural experience."
Â
For USC, the tour will be an incredible opportunity in the early development of a roster that is just starting to take shape and introduces nine new faces, including a consensus top-five recruiting class. USC will hope to mesh that incoming group with a key core led by seniors Nick Rakocevic and Jonah Mathews. Forward Rakocevic was USC's top rebounder and its second-leading scorer at 14.7 points per game, while the guard Mathews started every game and averaged 12.6 points per game.
Â
With the ability to utilize 10 practice days in advance of their departure, the Trojans will be able to jump-start their challenging 2019-20 nonconference schedule, which includes the eight-team Advocare Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Â
Â
Besides the opportunity to grow as a team on the court against elite-level European competition, the Trojans will have a great opportunity to experience the Spanish and French cultures and visit several amazing historical sites along the way.
Â
USC's Summer Tour will be a joint venture with Complete Sports Management.
Fans interested in joining the Trojans and sharing in the experience, can contact Michael Swets in the men's basketball office at (213) 740-3821 or swets@usc.edu. Further details will be available in the coming weeks.
