April 23, 2019 | Women's Water Polo, Features
Sophomore stuck a season-high four goals in USC’s 9-8 win over UCLA.
Sophomore Paige Hauschild's first of a season-high four goals at UCLA over the weekend marked her 100th career goal. It also gave USC an early lead in an eventual 9-8 win over its rival, and helped Hauschild along to picking up this week's honor as the MPSF Player of the Week.
In the second half, Hauschild scored three straight goals to turn a one-goal Trojan lead into a four-goal advantage in the fourth period. Now with her first career selection as an MPSF Player of the Week, Hauschild has now scored 103 goals in under two seasons at USC. With the road win over the Bruins, USC captured the No. 2 seed into the MPSF Tournament and improved to 23-1 overall.
Hauschild and the Women of Troy will open up the MPSF tourney with a quarterfinal clash against Indiana at 11 a.m. on Friday (April 26) in Palo Alto. The tournament runs April 26-28 at Stanford's Avery Aquatics Center.
