No. 14 USC Men's Volleyball Sweeps Grand Canyon In MPSF Opener

Jack Wyett had 14 kills hitting .500 to lead the No. 14-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 sweep over Grand Canyon in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opener for both squads on Thursday (Feb. 7) at USC's Galen Center.
USC improved to 7-4 overall, while Grand Canyon fell to 7-6.
Gianluca Grasso hit .421 with 11 kills for USC and added 7 digs and 3 aces, while Tyler Resnick tallied 9 kills hitting .562 with 1 ace and two digs. Teammate Ryan Moss added 9 kills hitting .300 with 2 digs.
For Grand Canyon, Will Schwob had 9 kills while hitting .190 and added 6 digs. Teammate Christian Janke had 5 kills and 3 digs.
USC hit .404 to GCU's .081.
With the first set tied at 6-6, USC scored 7 of the next 8 points to open a 13-7 lead and the Trojans were never threatened while hitting .500 and getting 13 digs and 2 aces. USC built a quick 3-1 lead in the second set and held the lead the rest of the way while hitting .464. USC scored 3 unanswered points early in the third set to go up 5-2 and held off the Antelopes the rest of the set to win 25-16.
USC continues MPSF play with a pair of road matches next week, first at No. 9 Stanford on Feb. 14 and then at No. 7 BYU on Feb. 1
