No. 9 USC Falls 4-2 to No. 14 UCLA in Regular Season Finale

WESTWOOD, Calif. – Missing leading scorer Tara McKeown and senior captain Jalen Woodward, the No. 9 USC women's soccer team couldn't keep pace with No. 14 UCLA on the road, falling 4-2 in the regular season finale.
The Trojans fall to 14-4-1 overall and 7-4-0 in Pac-12 play, while UCLA improves to 14-4-1 overall and 8-3-0 in conference action.
Things started well for the Trojans, with Natalie Jacobs scoring in the fifth minute to give USC an early lead, but the Bruins would score goals in the 22nd and 28 minutes to go ahead.
USC found another moment of brilliance, when Penelope Hocking stole the ball from a Bruin defender and chipped one past the keeper to tie things up at 2-2.
The UCLA offense was too much to hold off in the second half, though, as the Bruins sent numbers into the box and scored twice out of a crowd in the 75th and 78th minutes.
GOALS
5' – USC: Natalie Jacobs (assisted by Alea Hyatt, Penelope Hocking) – Hocking slid the ball out to Hyatt on the wing, and Hyatt sent in a perfect cross that Jacobs slotted home with a one-time finish.
22' – UCLA: Chloe Castaneda (assisted by Viviana Villacorta) – Villacorta sent a ball ahead for Castaneda, who got in behind the Trojan defense and finished on the run.
28' – UCLA: Mia Fishel (assisted by Chloe Castaneda, Ashley Sanchez) – Fishel got in behind the defense and scored from the top of the penalty area.
43' – USC: Penelope Hocking (no assist) – Hocking picked off a ball from the UCLA defender near the endline, dribbled into the box and chipped it over the keeper.
75' – UCLA: Viviana Villacorta (no assist) – Villacorta collected a bouncing ball in the penalty area and fired home the rebound.
78' – UCLA: Lucy Parker (assisted by Ashley Sanchez) – Sanchez sent a ball in and Parker headed it home in the midst of a scrum in front of the goal.
