Yuxin Lin Named Finalist For Ben Hogan Award September Golfer of the Month

Chinese freshman is one of three finalists.
USC freshman Yuxin Lin was announced as a finalist for the Ben Hogan Award September Golfer of the Month honor on Wednesday (Oct. 2). Lin is one of three finalists including Cooper Dossey of Baylor and Joh Pak of Florida State in competition for the award.
Lin, a freshman from Beijing, China, claimed the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship for the second time in his career this past weekend earning berths into the 2020 Masters and 2020 Open Championships. He won in a sudden-death playoff following a 72-hole score of 278 (-10).
While at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., Lin led USC with a tie for 12th at 7-under 203 (66-68-69), including a 4-under in his Trojan debut round. Lin joined the Trojans with a host of international experience at the game's highest levels, having played in more than 40 pro events.
Eighteen total ballots are eligible to be cast, with 15 coming from members of the Foundation's Board of Directors and three social media fan ballots. Those votes are issued to the top vote getter on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
In line with the yearly Ben Hogan Award, voters consider all college, amateur and professional event results. Winning a monthly award is not a prerequisite to be named a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist, finalist or winner.
The Ben Hogan Award is given each May to the top men's college golfer taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions over the past 12 months. The Ben Hogan Trophy was first issued by the Friends of Golf at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles in 1990.
