Incoming Trojan Angel Jackson Named McDonald’s All-American
January 24, 2019 | Women's Basketball, Features
Jackson is the 13th Trojan to have earned the honor.
The newest Trojan to be named to the McDonald's All-American honor roll is Angel Jackson, a recent signee whose stellar high school career has lifted the 6-5 post player into national acclaim. The Northern California product has been named to the 12-player West Team, which will compete in the 42nd annual McDonald All-American Games on March 24 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Jackson is one of six signees set to join the Women of Troy in fall 2019. Hailing from Salesian High School in Richmond, Calif., Jackson follows in similar footsteps to those of fellow Salesian alum and current USC senior Mariya Moore, who was a 2014 McDonald's All-American.
A highly skilled center, Jackson was ranked No. 24 overall and is No. 4 in the nation at her position, according to Prospectsnation, as of her signing with the Trojans in November 2018. A five-star recruit, Jackson averaged 14.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.6 blocks in her junior season at Salesian. She'd also post 21 double-doubles and a triple-double with 31 points, 21 rebounds and 10 blocks en route to Tri-County Rock Division MVP, First Team All-Bay Area and First Team All-State honors.
Jackson becomes the 13th USC women's basketball player who has been named to a McDonald's All-American team since the event began on the women's side in 2002.
