LOS ANGELES – On the final day of the 2018 MLB Draft, USC junior first baseman Dillon Paulson was selected in the 13th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Paulson joins USC's Solomon Bates and Lars Nootbaar, who were both selected in the 8th round of the draft yesterday. Paulson is the second Trojan taken by the Dodgers in the last three years, with Jeff Paschke being selected by Los Angeles in 2016.

Paulson served as USC's top power bat and run producer this season, finishing with a team-high 41 RBI and 10 home runs. Paulson slugged an even .500 this year and walked 35 times, also scoring a team-high 35 runs on the year. A sure-handed first-baseman, Paulson committed just two errors for a USC squad that finished the year with the 13th-best fielding percentage in the country. He also had 14 doubles and one triple on the season.

For his career, Paulson amassed a total of 95 hits including 14 homers, 20 doubles and two triples in his three years at USC. Paulson also totaled 66 RBI and 55 runs scored, and finished his junior season with a .993 fielding percentage. The lefty earned All Pac-12 honorable mention this year.

The USC baseball program has a long history of generating MLB talent and has now produced 333 MLB Draft picks in its history. USC also boasts the most alums in the history of college baseball to have reached the major leagues, with 111 Trojans having competed for MLB teams.
