No. 15 USC Lacrosse Blasts Bears For 17-3 Victory

The Women of Troy opened the back half of the Pac-12 schedule with a resounding 14-goal win over California
LOS ANGELES – The 15th-ranked USC lacrosse team (7-4, 5-1 Pac-12) opened the back half of the Pac-12 schedule with a 17-3 win against California (4-8, 0-6) at McAlister Field on Good Friday, March 30. It was the Trojans' sixth straight win over the Golden Bears.

KEY PLAYERS
- Freshman midfielder Kelsey Huff collected a career-high four goals to lead all players and picked up three ground balls.
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller had two goals, one assist, three draw controls, and caused four turnovers.
- Junior defender Jackie Gilbert grabbed three draw controls and caused two turnovers.
- Freshman Sophia Donovan scored a goal, dished out an assist, and had three draw controls and two ground balls.
- For the Bears, Elizabeth Koehler led all players with seven draw controls and had two ground balls. Kirsten Swanson, Lauren Hickman, and Chloe Landry scored one goal apiece. In goal, Jenny Wilkens had three saves and two ground balls.
- USC produced a 13-0 lead in the first half and forced running clock at 10-0 when senior attacker Alexis Kardias scored her second goal of the game.
- The Bears were held scoreless for 33:07 by senior goalie Gussie Johns but went 3-1 on the Trojans through the first 15 minutes of the second half.
- The Women of Troy closed out the game with a 3-0 run on goals scored by Huff, Donovan, and freshman Katie DeFeo.
- USC hosts 16th-ranked Stanford (7-3, 1-4 Pac-12) on Easter Sunday (April 1) at 2 p.m. PT on McAlister Field. The Cardinal defeated the Trojans, 12-11, in overtime last Sunday (March 25) in Stanford, Calif.
- USC improved to 6-1 all-time against California and has won the last six in a row.
- The Trojans improved to 34-9 in all-time games played at McAlister Field and 38-11 in all-time home games.
- The Women of Troy kept an opponent scoreless for an entire half for the first time this season and set a new season-long of 33:07 from the beginning of the game.
- USC's 13 first-half goals were the most scored by the Trojans in any single half this season.
- All three of the Trojans' goalies played in the game. Fr. G Riley Hertford picked up two saves.
- Fr. M Kelsey Huff scored a career-high four goals.
