No. 13 USC Drops Overtime Heartbreaker to No. 19 Cardinal

The Trojans played in their fourth overtime game of the season
STANFORD, Calif. – The 13th-ranked USC lacrosse team (6-4, 4-1 Pac-12) had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 12-11 overtime loss to No. 19 Stanford (7-3, 4-1) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday, March 25. It was the fourth overtime game for the Trojans this season. USC had previously played five overtime games in five seasons combined.

- Junior midfielder Emily Concialdi scored three goals to lead the Women of Troy and became the 20th all-time Trojan to record a hat trick; the first of her career.
- Senior goalie Gussie Johns had 11 saves and picked up seven ground balls.
- Graduate attacker Maeve McMahon had six draw controls to go with three points (1G, 2A).
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller had six draw controls, dished out one assist and was responsible for three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
- The Cardinal had three players score hat tricks: Areta Buness, Dillon Schoen, and Galen Lew. Lew had the game-winning goal in overtime. In goal, Allie DaCar had 10 saves. Julia Massaro recorded four draw controls and caused two turnovers.
- The Trojans led, 4-2, and then 7-5 in the first half, but Stanford scored a goal with under 90 seconds to halftime to draw within one, 7-6, of the Women of Troy at the break.
- Over the course of 12 minutes, USC used a 4-1 run to build an 11-7 lead in the second half. Concialdi had two goals in less than 90 seconds to complete the Trojans' scoring run and give USC the four-goal lead at 18:08.
- Schoen scored two goals at 13:06 and 11:47 to bring the Cardinal within two goals, and Buness scored with just over five minutes to play. The Cardinal tied the game with three minutes left and then forced a USC turnover to recover the ball and score the golden goal with 3:23 remaining in the second overtime period.
- USC returns home to host California (March 30) and Stanford (April 1) at McAlister Field to open the back half of the Pac-12 schedule. Both games will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks' Los Angeles and Bay Area channels.
- USC fell to 5-4 all-time against Stanford and had a four-game winning streak over the Cardinal snapped.
- Including games won in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, USC had its 22-game conference winning streak broken.
- The Trojans had a six-game Bay Area winning streak snapped; a string that dated back to 2016.
- USC fell to 15-23 all-time against ranked opponents.
- The Women of Troy played in the program's ninth all-time overtime game and fell to 3-6 in those games. It was USC's fourth overtime game in its last six contests. Previously, the Trojans had played five overtime games in five years combined.
- Jr. M Emily Concialdi became the 20th Trojan to record a hat trick.
