Trojans Excelling in Summer Ball

Two Trojans have won league titles, three more earn All-Star honors.
LOS ANGELES – The Trojans are excelling in summer ball around the country, with two Trojans recently leading their summer ball teams to league titles, while three others earned All-Star honors. Rising sophomore infielders Tyler Pritchard and Jarrett Pico won summer ball league titles, while the play of rising junior pitcher Solomon Bates and rising junior infielders Brandon Perez and Dillon Paulson helped them earn all-star nods.
Infielder Tyler Pritchard helped lead the Palm Springs Power to the SoCal Collegiate Baseball League title, batting an impressive .328 through 22 games. He drove in 14 runs, while drawing 11 walks. The rising sophomore also showed some pop, tallying three home runs in 61 at bats.
Rising sophomore infielder Jarrett Pico also helped lead his team, the Pompano Beach Clippers to a league championship, as his squad won the South Florida Collegiate League title. He batted .238 through 28 games, driving in seven runs with two doubles. He also showed off his wheels, stealing five bags on the year.
Three Trojans have earned All-Star selections to their respective summer ball league's all-star games. Pitcher Solomon Bates was named an all All-Star in the California Collegiate League, representing the Academy Barons. Infielders Brandon Perez and Dillon Paulson were both named All-Stars in the New England Collegiate League, representing the Plymouth Pilgrims and the North Adams StepleCats, respectively.
Perez is batting .272 through 35 games on the summer, leading the team with 26 RBIs and an impressive seven home runs in 136 at-bats. Paulson is having an equally strong summer, batting .308 through 37 games, leading the team with 25 RBIs and six home runs. He has also shown incredible discipline at the plate, drawing a team-high 31 walks.
Bates has appeared in nine games on the mound, throwing just shy of 32 innings. He has an ERA of 4.83 and has struck out 37 batters with just nine walks over those nine appearances. Bates has also seen time at the plate, batting an impressive .400 (20-for-50) in 12 games. He has tallied 13 singles, five doubles and two home runs.
The Trojans also have more Trojans throughout the country continuing to play summer ball, including: Lars Nootbaar (Orleans, Cape Cod), Blake Sabol (Wareham, Cape Cod), John Thomas (Kenai, ABL), Daniel Edson (Ventura, CCL), Christian Moya (Kalamazoo, NWL), Kaleb Murphy (Kalamazoo, NWL), Stephen Dubb (Kalamazoo, NWL) and Zack Sharpley (Matsu, ABL).
