LOS ANGELES -- The No. 21-ranked USC women's volleyball team (6-3) seeks to extend its six-match winning streak when the Women of Troy close the non-conference portion of their schedule as hosts of the Pac-12 Challenge at Galen Center this week (Sept. 15-16). The Trojans will face Oklahoma (9-1) from the Big XII Conference on Thursday (Sept. 15) at 8 p.m. PT and then take on Maryland (7-2) from the Big Ten Conference on Friday (Sept. 16) at 8 p.m. Fellow Pac-12 member No. 5 Washington (8-0) will also take on the opposite opponent on each day at 5 p.m. PT. Oklahoma and Maryland will meet in a separate match at 11 a.m. PT on Friday. Each of the four evening matches will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network with each of the Trojans' matches also available on Pac-12 Los Angeles. Each of the Huskies' matches will also be shown live on Pac-12 Washington. The non-Pac-12 match will be streamed live on USC's Pac-12 Network web portal. The Women of Troy are a combined 7-0 all-time against the Sooners and the Terrapins.
LAST TIME OUT: The Women of Troy extended their winning streak to six matches and dropped just one set in Houston to claim the Rice Adidas Invitational I championship. USC defeated Sam Houston State and Oakland in a pair of three-set sweeps and went four with the host Owls before cementing its spot atop the final standings. Senior MB Elise Ruddins was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and earned all-tournament honors alongside junior OPP Brittany Abercrombie and freshman OH Khalia Lanier. Ruddins had a career-high nine blocks in the win over the Owls and finished the weekend with 25 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Lanier logged her fifth double-double of the season during the tournament and led the Trojans in points in each of the three matches. Abercrombie also had 25 kills and hit .327 with eight blocks through the weekend.
