LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team has signed Imani Davis (All Saints Episcopal HS/Dallas, Texas), Khalia Lanier (Xavier College Prep/Scottsdale, Ariz.), and Raegan LeGrand (Papillion-LaVista South HS/Papillion, Neb.) to National Letters of Intent head coach Mick Haley announced on Thursday, Nov. 12. The highly-touted trio of AVCA Under Armour Girls High School All-Americans is set to arrive at Troy in the fall of 2016.
"This is a tremendously exciting group," said Haley. "The three student-athletes we've signed are expected to fill positions where we know they will compete to make an immediate impact on our program. We think that Lanier is the best left side attacker in country this year. She is a member of the U.S. Junior National Team and has experienced so much success at the club and high school levels. We expect Davis also to come in and play an important role for this team. She is a great blocker and has the potential to become a great attacker in the future. LeGrand is our prototypical libero whose experience as a hitter strengthens her skills as a passer and defender. All three of these young ladies are great students and will each be important pieces of this program and its future."
Davis is a 6-5 middle blocker who plays for Texas Advantage Volleyball Club and All Saints Episcopal High School. She is an imposing presence on the court as a four-year varsity starter. A third-team High School All-American, Davis was selected to the Southwest Preparatory Conference All-State Girls Volleyball First Team and was named one of Volleyball Magazine's 25 Underclassmen to Watch. She was on the 16-Open All-Tournament Team at the 2014 USAV Girls' Junior National Championships.
LeGrand, a 5-10 Libero, plays for Nebraska Juniors Volleyball Club and Papillion La Vista South High School and is the No. 1-ranked player from the state of Nebraska as ranked my MaxPreps. She is also a PrepVolleyball Defensive Dandies selection. LeGrand helped lead her school to the 2012 Nebraska State Championship and earned Class A second-team all-state honors when she finished with 354 kills and 310 digs in the same season. She is a 2013 AVCA Phenom and Junior Volleyball Associate All-National Team selection and was a member of the 2014 All-Nebraska team.
Lanier is a 6-2 pin-hitter who plays for Arizona Storm Volleyball Club and Xavier College Prep High School. She is a member of the U.S. Volleyball Youth National Team and was named the No. 1-ranked Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball. Lanier has led the Arizona Storm to a silver, and a pair of gold medals at the Junior National Championships. She is the daughter of eight-time NBA All-Star Hall of Famer Bob Lanier. As a team captain, Lanier led XCP to the 2013 state championship, was named MVP, and was later chosen for National Sophomore of the Year honors.
No. 2-ranked USC is 26-1 (14-1 Pac-12) and will finish the regular season with six of its final eight matches at Galen Center. USC faces Oregon State (5-19, 3-11) for a 7:30 p.m. match on Thursday (Nov. 12).
