Nicole Davis and Team USA Move Into Gold Medal Match

Former USC standout libero Nicole Davis and the top-ranked U.S. women's volleyball team (7-0) forged ahead into the Olympic gold medal match with a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) over No. 15 South Korea (3-4), at Earls Court, in London, on Thursday, Aug. 9.
Davis had 15 digs as the Americans earned their fifth straight sweep and 16th straight set victory. Team USA has dropped just two sets in its seven matches at the Olympics and is now assured to receive a medal. The U.S. will face second-ranked Brazil (5-2) in a rematch of the 2008 Beijing Olympic final in search or its first-ever gold medal in women's volleyball.
USA and Brazil will take the court on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m. PT (6:30 p.m. local). The Bronze Medal Match is scheduled for 3:30 a.m. PT (11:30 a.m. local) between Japan and Korea.
Davis, who helped USC capture the 2002 and 2003 NCAA titles, is appearing in her second Olympic Games. She and her USA teammates won a silver medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
