Paolucci, Sahyoun Win Twice In Del Walker Opener

Sophomore Ramsey Sahyoun and freshman Anthony Paolucci each won twice as No. 4 USC fell in a tiebreak to Oregon State in the first round and was tied late in the second round of the 2012 Del Walker Match Play Championship in Long Beach, Calif., on Monday (Feb. 27).
The Trojans, who fell into the consolation bracket after the loss to the Beavers, were tied, 2-2, against host Long Beach State when play was called due to darkness. In the final match USC sophomore Jeffrey Kang is all square with the 49ers Kevin Lim after 14 holes.
Paolucci, who trailed only once in 36 holes Monday, won his first-round match against Oregon State's Casey King, 4&3, while Sahyoun defeated Nick Chianello, 2&1. USC junior Sam Smith fell 2 up to Jonnie Motomochi while senior Steve Lim lost 2 up to Nick Sherwood. Kang finished all square with the Beavers' Alex Moore.
Against the 49ers, Paolucci won his match, 2&1, while Sahyoun, who was behind during only four of 36 holes, posted a 3&2 victory. Smith and Lim both fell 2&1.
USC will play either Oregon or UC Davis in its final round on Tuesday after finishing the match against Long Beach State.
