USC Slotted No. 2 In AVCA Preseason Poll

The USC women's volleyball team has been ranked No. 2 in the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) preseason poll for the 2011 season. USC is coming off its sixth NCAA Final Four appearance in the last 11 years after posting a 29-5 record. This is the first time since 2004 that USC will have at least three All-Americans returning on its roster with seniors Alex Jupiter, Kendall Bateman and Lauren Williams. The Women of Troy were picked to finish first in the Pac-12 Conference preseason coaches' poll.
USC begins the 2011 season by playing in the AVCA Showcase (Aug. 26-27) in University Park, Pa. against No. 1 Penn State and No. 12 Minnesota. This season's schedule includes matches against six of the top 12 teams ranked in the poll (No. 1 Penn State, No. 3 California, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Washington, No. 11 UCLA and No. 12 Minnesota).
