USC Men's Golf Hosts Cleveland Golf Collegiate Invitational

THE TOURNEY--The No. 22 USC men's golf team hosts 16 squads--nine of them ranked in the latest Top 25 Precept Golf Coaches Poll--at the 27th annual Cleveland Golf Collegiate Invitational held on Mon.-Tues. (March 1-2) at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
TEAMS--Besides USC, the tourney includes No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 Texas Christian, No. 10 Texas, No. 16 California, No. 19 Arkansas, No. 20 Washington, No. 21 Brigham Young, No. 24 Illinois, plus Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Stanford, and Tennessee. Five individuals will also compete.
FORMAT--The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, 54 total. there is a practice round on Sunday at 11 a.m. Play on Monday begins with a shot gun start at 7:30 a.m., while Tuesday, play resumes off the 1st and 10th tee at 7:45 a.m.
LAST YEAR'S INVITATIONAL--UCLA won the Cleveland Golf Classic (as it was named last year) with a 7-under 845. Bruin Steve Conway was the individual winner with a 6-under 206.
SO FAR THIS YEAR--USC has four top 10 finishes so far this season. The Trojans' best finish was at The Ridges Invitational, where they shot a 7-over 871 over 54 holes to tie for third. USC also placed fourth at the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate (season-low 848) and seventh at both The Nelson Invitational and the Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
