DURHAM, N.C. -- The USC baseball team was picked fourth in the 2002 preseason poll by Baseball America. The Trojans are the consensus No. 4 selection, earning the same spot in a poll released earlier by Collegiate Baseball. USC is one of four Pac-10 teams in the top 25, along with top-ranked Stanford, Arizona State (18th) and Washington (24th).
Junior pitcher Anthony Reyes was named as a preseason first team All-American while junior catcher Alberto Concepcion and junior infielder Anthony Lunetta earned second team honors.
USC is coming off a 45-19 season last year and the Pac-10 Conference championship with an 18-6 mark. The Trojans made back-to-back appearances at the College World Series for the first time since the 1973 and 1974 seasons.
The season opener for the Trojans will be on Friday, Feb. 8 at 6:05 p.m. when USC opens a three-game series at Long Beach State.
