Women's Soccer Team Takes A European Vacation

The USC women's soccer team embarked on its first-ever extended trip with a 12-day tour in Germany and The Netherlands. The team will play five exhibition games against professional women's teams before returning home on Aug. 22. The Trojans will open the regular season on Aug. 27 at UC Irvine at 1 p.m.
"The trip gives us an opportunity to find out who can and can't compete for us," said Head Coach Jim Millinder. "We are playing against top competition. In a normal situation, you only play one scrimmage and then jump into the season."
"This trip will give us a chance to shore up and clean up little mistakes. We will be able to see some people in different positions and to see the freshmen in action."
USC received its highest preseason ranking ever after tying with Harvard for 17th place in the NSCAA/adidas poll. The Trojans were 14-6 last season and return eight starters from last year's squad.
