Women's Water Polo Falls To Stanford In OT

LOS ANGELES - Cardinal freshman 2M Julie Gardner scored the winning goal in the fourth overtime period to give No. 2 Stanford a 7-6 victory over No. 4 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Friday at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC (12-4 overall, 5-1 MPSF) fought back after being down 0-2 in the first period to tie Stanford (9-3 overall, 2-0 MPSF) at 6-6 in the final minutes of regulation. The score remained tied through three overtime periods until Gardner scored the winning goal for Stanford with 46 seconds left in the contest. This is the Trojans first MPSF lost.
USC will host UCLA on March 9 at 5 p.m.
