Women's Water Polo Defeats Long Beach State, 8-2

LOS ANGELES - Sophomore 2-meter Nina Wengst (Krefeld, Germany) scored three goals to lead No. 2 USC to an 8-2 victory over No. 9 Long Beach State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Sunday in Long Beach.
USC (8-1 overall, 3-0 MPSF) jumped out to an early lead with five goals in the first period. The Trojans scored twice in the third period and added their final tally in the fourth period while the 49ers scored their two goals in the second half. Long Beach State drops to 3-6 overall.
Wengst now leads the team with 28 goals for the season.
The Women of Troy return to action this Thursday, Feb. 24, with an MPSF match at home against the University of Hawai?i before traveling to the UC Santa Barbara Tournament this weekend.
