Men's Water Polo Beats Cal In MPSF Match

LOS ANGELES - Freshman Tim Wollthan and junior Daniel Lontay scored two goals each Saturday as the No. 2 USC Trojans recorded a 7-5 win over the No. 4 California Golden Bears in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC improves to 14-4 overall and 4-2 in MPSF play while California drops to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in MPSF play.
Cal's Joe Kaiser scored the first two goals of the match before Wollthan and Jeff Larson tied the game, 2-2, after the first period. With a 5-4 lead at halftime, the Trojans held the Golden Bears scoreless in the third quarter while Lontay added his second goal of the match.
The Trojans will host No. 5 UC Irvine in a non-conference match tomorrow (Oct. 29) at noon.
