Women's Volleyball Sweeps Oregon

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 8 USC women's volleyball team defeated Oregon in a Pacific-10 Conference match, 15-2, 15-6, 15-7 on Sunday (Sept. 27) in front of 539 at the North Gym.
USC improved to 7-3 overall, 3-1 in the Pac-10. Oregon dropped to 6-7, 1-2. The Women of Troy were led by senior outside hitter Jennifer Kessy's 18 kills and nine digs and senior middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic's 12 kills and five blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Antoinette Polk also contributed nine kills and six digs.
The Ducks were led by senior outside hitter Madeline Ernst, who posted 15 kills and six digs.
USC outhit Oregon, .431 to .206 and held a blocking advantage of 9-4. The Women of Troy got off to a quick start, scoring the first nine points of Game 1 and continued to dominate throughout the match. The closest the Ducks got in the match was at 7-9 in Game 3, but USC put away the next six points, ending the match with a kill by sophomore outside hitter Shannon Redfern.
USC next goes on the road to face Pepperdine on Wednesday (Sept. 30) at 4 p.m. in Malibu. The Women of Troy are 26-7 against the Waves.
