USC Defeats ASU in Volleyball

TEMPE, Ariz. -- USC's Jennifer Kessy tallied 18 kills and 17 digs to lead the eighth-ranked Trojans to a 3-0 conference win over ASU tonight in the Wells Fargo Arena. Game scores were 15-13, 15-9, 15-10.
ASU is now to 7-7 on the year, 4-3 in conference play. Southern California improves to 10-3 on the season, 5-1 in the Pac-10.
Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Burbridge had 14 kills and nine digs to pace the Sun Devils. Freshman outside hitter Jami Coughlin led ASU with 12 digs, and also contributed nine kills, while junior middle blocker Laura Hibsman tallied 10 kills in 20 attempts. Senior middle blocker Shawna Vanley led the Sun Devils defensively with one block solo and a game-high seven block assists.
For the Trojans, senior middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic recorded 17 kills in 28 attempts, and sophomore outside hitter Shannon Redfern tallied 10 kills.
Arizona State will host the UCLA Bruins on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Wells Fargo Arena.
