Men's Hoops Adds Final Recruit

Los Angeles - Guard Malachi Thurston from The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn., has signed a letter of intent with USC, mens basketball coach Henry Bibby announced today.
"Malachi is a versatile player who comes to us as an off-guard but can play three positions for us," Bibby said. "He's a guy who we feel can score and he gives us some nice size in the backcourt. He adds good depth to the team and is only going to get better."
Thurston, 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, graduated from Marin Academy in San Rafael, Calif., before attending the Hotchkiss School. He averaged 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists the past season for Hotchkiss.
Thurston earned the William Duryee Award as the top player in the Tri-State League in 1999 and also was selected to the Kingwood Invitational Holiday All-Stars and New England Prep School All-Stars first teams.
