OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Tim Winn had 22 points and seven assists to lead St. Bonaventure University to an 80-67 win over the University of Southern California Saturday night.
Winn was among five Bonnies scoring in double figures including Peter Van Paassen who had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Center Caswell Cyrus had 15 points and eight rebounds while David Messiah Capers had 14 points and five rebounds.
The Bonnies (4-1) took an early lead, but USC (3-4) came back to take a 37-36 halftime lead. St. Bonaventure pulled ahead at 18:05 in the second half on Winn's 3-pointer and never lost the lead.
At 6:41 left in the game, the Bonnies had their biggest lead - 15 points - following Capers' key jumper. The Bonnies outscored USC 44-30 in the second half.
For the Trojans, Brian Scalabrine had 19 points, David Bluthenthal had 17 and Sam Clancy had 15 points.
St. Bonaventure had 12 points off fastbreaks to none for USC, and hit 49 percent from the floor to the Trojans' 38 percent.
