
Trojans Run Away From Santa Barbara

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jeff Trepagnier led all scorers with 23 points and Southern California used a 20-3 run at the start of the second half to cruise to a 94-73 victory over UC Santa Barbara Wednesday night.
During the 3:53 stretch of the runaway half, Brian Scalabrine and Trepagnier led the Trojans with five points each, and Sam Clancy added four points.
The Trojans (3-3) came out of halftime up 40-30 and scored 16 unanswered points before Mark Hull ended the drought for the Gauchos (0-4) with a layup. Hull finished the game with 11 points and five rebounds.
USC dominated the inside game against UCSB as Clancy recorded his first double-double of the season, scoring 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Scalabrine added a season-high 21 points and five rebounds.
The Gauchos were hampered by poor shooting all night and had trouble matching up against the pressure defense of USC. Eric Ashe led the way for UCSB with 20 points and dished out three assists.
Trepagnier went on a hot streak late in the game for the Trojans. He scored three consecutive baskets and and registered a steal. He has registered at least three steals in each of the Trojans' six contests this season, and is averaging five steals a game.
USC improved its record against UCSB to 9-0.
