Women's Volleyball Sweeps Huskies 3-0 On The Road

Los Angeles -- OH Janae Henry (13 kills, 10 digs) led the No.19-ranked Women of Troy to a 3-0 (15-7, 15-3, 15-10) victory over Washington in Seattle, Wash. on Friday (Oct. 1) night. This was the first three-game sweep the Trojans have earned this season against a Pac-10 opponent.
USC improved to 8-3 overall, and 3-1 in the Pac-10. Washington fell to 6-8 overall this season, and 2-4 in conference play.
Three Trojans posted double-digit kills in the quick one-hour 19-minute match. Led by Henry who accounted for 13 kills, OH Kashi Cormier had her best performance this season, pounding 10 kills (.444) and collecting six digs. OH Antoinette Polk also added 10 kills for the Women of Troy. MB Jennifer Pahl and setter Heidi Munneke both accounted for four blocks each, as the Trojans once again out-blocked their opponent 7.0 to 3.0. Washington was held to a .147 attack percentage on the night, while USC hit for .348.
The Huskies were led by OH Kristina Laffling who had 11 kills, eight digs and two blocks in the match, all team-highs.
After earning the victory in game one, 15-7, USC took the second game, 15-3, by committing only three attack errors, and holding Washington to a .069 attack percentage. With a .394 hitting effort in game two, the Trojans repeated the performance in the final game to seal the victory.
Upon returning home, the Trojans will prepare to face top-ranked Stanford on Friday (Oct. 8) at 6 p.m. in the North Gym.
