Women's Volleyball Defeats Beavers For Pac-10 Win

CORVALLIS, ORE. -- In her conference debut, freshman setter Tracy Lindquist led No. 17 USC to a 3-1 (11-15, 15-6, 15-9, 15-8) defeat over Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore. on Friday (Oct. 15) night. The Trojans' rebound from two recent Pac-10 losses with a high-powered offensive performance.
USC improves to 10-5 overall this season and 5-3 in the Pac-10. Oregon State, after its fifth consecutive loss to the Trojans, falls to 8-8 overall, and 2-6 in conference play.
Lindquist, who started for the Trojans during the non-conference season, had the opportunity to establish herself in the Pac-10. Aside from her 59 assists, she posted a career-best four service aces and four kills off of just nine attacks (.444). Lindquist rejuvenated Troy's offensive attack, guiding four players to tally double-digit kills. OH Antoinette Polk, with a team-high 18 kills, posted her highest attack percentage (.378) since the USC-Tennessee match on September 11. MB Jennifer Pahl accounted for 15 kills (.364) and seven blocks. Other top performers included OH Kashi Cormier with 15 kills (.419) and 10 digs, and OH Janae Henry who accounted for 11 kills (.171).
In front of 1,254 at Gill Coliseum, the Beavers were led by OH Angie Shirley who posted 19 kills, three blocks and the highest team attack percentage (.375). As a team, Oregon State hit for .215, as compared the Troy's .323. OSU was also out-blocked by the Women of Troy, 5.0 to 14.0.
USC's next conference match-up will be on Saturday, October 16. The Trojans and Ducks are scheduled to play at 7 p.m. in Eugene, Ore.
